Cooperative Principles

1. Maxims of Quality : Be truthful. 以免構成溝通上的不確定性(因發言者身分不同)。
2. Maxims of Quantity : Be informative. 提供適量資訊即可(因對象而異)。
3. Maxims of Relevance. Be relevant.
4. Maxims of Manner. Be clear, be brief, be orderly. 「見人說人話，見鬼說鬼話。」

Speech Act

Performing a kind of act simply by language.

• Such as : assertion, question, request, order, promise, threat, thanks, apology...

• Felicity — some conditions need to be fulfilled before forming a speech act.

  Felicitous : very well suited or expressed

  Including how the speaker thinks, the event that happened beforehand...

• Speech act can be classified into direct and indirect ones*.*

  Direct : implying what the speakers want clearly

  Indirect : 拐了個彎，但對方會知道。
