Brief Intro to Sign Languages
- visual-gestural system with words and grammatical rules
- uses hand, body and facial gestures
- gesture (not rule-governed) → pantomime(默劇) → emblems(像揮手這種不需口與伴隨就有固定意思的動作,隨語區不同) → sign language (rule-governed)
- sign language is not universal (且與該區的主要語言無關連)
- sign language families are related to conlonization (過程中母國帶去啟聰學校)

- sign language aren't always iconic (= it's mostly arbitrary)
- 左右手都通,單手的就用慣用手
